As the countdown continues for the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, excitement is reaching a fever pitch in Mississauga. This historic event, running from January 23 to February 1, 2026, marks the first time Canada’s premier women’s curling championship will be held in the Greater Toronto Area.

With the Paramount Fine Foods Centre set to host the nation’s best, here is the updated look at the field and the unique Olympic-year storylines.

A “Next-Woman-Up” Team Canada

The 2026 tournament features a unique twist due to the 2026 Winter Olympics.

  • The Olympic Conflict: Current world #1 and defending Scotties champion Team Rachel Homan officially secured their spot for the Winter Games in Italy after winning the Canadian Olympic Trials in late 2025.

A Historic First for Mississauga

The 2026 Scotties will be a landmark event as it marks the first time this national championship has been hosted in the Mississauga area. The city beat out several other major Canadian hubs for the bid, promising a high-energy atmosphere at the 5,000-seat Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

Local fans can also look forward to “The Patch,” curling’s legendary party site, which will feature live music (including opening night performance by The Trews), food, and interactive sessions with the athletes.

Key Teams and The “Olympic” Twist

The 2026 field will look slightly different than usual due to the Winter Olympics.

  • Team Canada: While Rachel Homan is the defending champion, she will be representing Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy during this time. As a result, the 2025 silver medalists, Team Kerri Einarson, will take on the mantle of “Team Canada” for the Mississauga event.

  • Pre-Qualified Powerhouses: Joining Einarson are pre-qualified teams based on the 2024-25 rankings, including Team Kayla Skrlik (Alberta) and Team Christina Black (Nova Scotia).

  • The Full Field: A total of 18 teams will compete, including champions from all 14 provincial and territorial playdowns.

Tournament Schedule Highlights

The 10-day event features a round-robin format followed by a high-stakes playoff round. While the full draw depends on provincial results, several “locked-in” matchups have already been announced:

  • Opening Night (Jan 23): Draw 1 kicks off at 7:00 PM.

  • Marquee Matchup (Jan 24): Team Canada (Einarson) faces off against the Host Team (Ontario) at 7:00 PM.

  • The Final (Feb 1): The national champion will be crowned on Sunday evening.

How to Watch & Attend

In-Person Tickets

Tickets are currently on sale through Curling Canada’s official portal. Options range from Single Draw tickets (starting at $20.00) to full-event packages ($420–$480). Youth and student tickets are available for as low as $10 for certain draws.

Broadcast & Streaming

In Canada, TSN remains the primary home for the Scotties.

  • Television: Full coverage across TSN’s national networks.

  • Streaming: Available via the TSN App and TSN+ for subscribers.

  • International: Viewers outside of Canada can typically follow the action through Curling Canada’s streaming partners or the World Curling Federation’s digital channels.

Why the 2026 Event Is Unique

Because 2026 is an Olympic year, the Scotties will take place a few weeks earlier than its traditional February slot. This ensures that fans can enjoy the national championship before the focus shifts to the global stage in Milan-Cortina. It also creates a “next-woman-up” opportunity for teams like Einarson’s to reclaim the national throne while the Olympic representatives are abroad.

Playoff Schedule & Format

The tournament follows an 18-team format, split into two pools of nine. The top three teams from each pool advance to the championship round.

  • Page Qualifiers: Friday, Jan 30

  • Page Playoff (1 vs 2 / 3 vs 4): Saturday, Jan 31

  • Semifinal: Sunday, Feb 1 (Morning)

  • Final: Sunday, Feb 1 (Evening)
