Scouts from across the northwest will be heading for Co Tyrone this summer for the Camp Carnival extravaganza.

Camp Carnival is the Northern Province of Scouting Ireland's forthcoming Scout Camp which will be held on the Baroncourt Estate on the outskirts of Newtownstewart, Co. Tyrone.

The Camp will be the home for almost 2000 young people (from 6yrs to 26yrs) and adult volunteers from Friday 1st June until Mon 4th June from all over the north as well as groups from Dublin, Lough, Roscommon, Sligo and Limerick.

Camp Chief, Derry Photographer Joe Boland, a Scout Leader from Lifford, said that the young people are going to have a great weekend with a wide range of activities planned by his team of volunteers.

Joe has enlisted the expertise of the emergency services along with other agencies to assist in providing an action packed and fun filled programme of events to ensure the young people leave with not only memories but will have acquired a number of scouting and outdoor skills.

This is the first major Scout Camp ever to be held in the northwest with an expected attendance of approximately 2,000 staying for the three days. They will be camping and participating in a variety of scouting activities including water activities. Emphasise will be placed on fun and carnival fun in particular with some special surprises being organised for the evening times.
