Council has passed a motion proposed by Councillor Angela Dobbins to become a ‘Jam Card’ friendly organisation and to train staff in working with Jam Card holders.

The JAM Card allows people with a learning difficulty, autism or Asperger’s tell others they need ‘Just A Minute’ discreetly and easily, for instance when making a purchase or interacting with staff.

The proposed motion stated “that this Council recognises the JAM Card ’Just A Minute’ and make every effort to become a JAM Card friendly organisation in compliance with its autism and disability friendly policy, and will support and encourage proper training in this regard. Also that this Council will promote JAM Card acceptance for all people with a disability throughout this Council district area.”
